Easter Bilbys

I bought all my Easter Bilby's from Darrell Lea today. I refuse to buy easter bunnies, when its bunnies who are breeding freaks who are destroying all the beautiful bilby's here in Australia. When you buy an easter bilby, a donation gets made to the Bilby Foundation, who made a 5kmx5km reserve for them near Charleville, so that rabbits, foxes and feral cats can't kill them. Hopefully there numbers will go up, as they are soo cute! To think soo much of Australia's beautiful and unique wildlife and marsupials have been made extinct by human stupidity. In 1880, four englishmen released 26 rabbits onto a property in South Australia so that they could go around and shoot them, less than 10 years later they were in plague proportions and now 100 odd years later, we have more than 100 species of marsupials which are either extinct or in grave danger because of the release of foxes and rabbits. Stupid!

When I told Stevie he was getting a bilby instead of an easter egg, his response was,' I'm getting a charity egg?'.

We both went out to show on Friday night in the Valley which was really good, all the bands were great, I know I am getting old as we got home around 1ish and it killed me getting up and going to work the next day. We barely survived the taxi ride home where the guy did a total donut burn out whilst going around a roundabout! What the!

I watched a really interesting (depressing as stevie called it) show last night called, A lion in the house, it was part one of a documentary of 3 kids battling cancer in the U.S. One of them had had it for 10 years. It really got me thinking about quality of life and the ethics of medicine. One of the poor guys, the one who had been battling cancer for 10 years, was only 19, and despite his cancer at the end being in remission, his quality of life was shocking, hooked up on machines doing all his breathing for him. It was big slap in the face!

There was a tsnunami alert today for Nth Qld due to an earthquake at the Soloman Islands, but nothing ended up happening.
